Pavement Condition Index (PCI) Study

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development's Aviation Division has issued a contract with Applied Pavement Technology, Inc. (APTech), with assistance from KSA Engineers, to update the State's Airport Pavement Management System (APMS).

The PCI study will require visual inspections of pavements at 62 General Aviation (GA) Airports statewide using the PCI procedure. The results of this effort will assist DOTD Aviation and Airports in understanding the current condition of the airfield pavements and provide tools-including an interactive website providing users with all of the project results-to assist in the future management of these pavements.

Wildlife Hazard Assessments (WHA)

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development's Aviation Division has issued a contract with Volkert Inc., with assistance from Gulf South Research Corporation (GSRC) and CDM Smith, to conduct Wildlife Hazard Assessments at nine (9) General Aviation (GA) Airports Statewide. The following airports are part of this project:

    • Abbeville Chris Crusta Memorial Airport (IYA)
    • Hammond Northshore Regional Airport (HDC)
    • Harry P. Williams Memorial Airport (PTN)
    • Houma-Terrebonne Airport (HUM)
    • Louisiana Regional Airport (L38)
    • Ruston Regional Airport (RSN)
    • Shreveport Downtown Airport (DTN)
    • Slidell Airport (ASD)
    • South Lafourche Leonard Miller, Jr. Airport (GAO)

A qualified Biologist will conduct an initial site of the airports and develop a monthly survey design for each airport. Each month surveys will be conducted during the day at the airport, and night counts will be conducted once a quarter. Upon completion of the project, the data will be analyzed and a report will be published with recommendations for Wildlife Hazard reductions at the airport, along with details of the assessment.
